Darcey Bussell joins Strictly Come Dancing


Darcey Bussell joins the Strictly Come Dancing family

Jay Hunt, Controller BBC One announced today that Darcey Bussell will join Strictly Come Dancing for its glittering new series this autumn.

Darcey Bussell will appear as guest judge towards the end of Strictly’s run, adding her unique world-class dancing take on the performances. Darcey will also appear on It Takes Two, more details to be announced.

Jay Hunt, Controller BBC One said: “Darcey has impeccable credentials as a dancer and as a guest judge, she will bring an exciting new dimension to the last few weeks of the Strictly competition."

Darcey Bussell added: “It is a real pleasure to have been invited to join Strictly Come Dancing. It is a fantastic show and I'm looking forward to getting to know the dancers and being part of the excitement.”

Strictly Come Dancing returns for its seventh fabulous series this autumn. These changes are part of the new format of this year’s show, more will be revealed later in the year.

    My understanding is that Darcey andher family only ever intended to live in Australia for a couple of years, to make the transition from retirement into something else, a little easier. But Darcey is a London girl and very close to her family by all accounts so it's no surprise to hear of this return.

  4. Good to see her back in Britain and on the air. She has done more for the public image of ballet in the UK and even here in the States than anyone I can think of. Classy, classy young woman. This is good news.
