A dress to die for

I would just like to highlight this article about a Chanel couture tutu which has been made for Elena Glurdjidze, for her performances of The Dying Swan, in today's Guardian magazine.

Elena is a senior principal dancer with English National Ballet.

Performance details are listed at the end of the article by Jess Cartner-Morley.

  1. What an interesting article and the most beautiful tutu.Incredible that even Karl Lagerfeld was humbled before Elena Glurdjidze, but wonderful to hear how nice she was.I would imagine every person there was longing to see her dance and she did not disappoint! Brought tears to my eyes. Thank you! S

  2. I know, it does look beautiful doesn't it ? Will be interesting to see it in the flesh, to properly see the various colours of the feathers.

I haven't yet come across a dancer who isn't "nice". Being part of a company and having that team spirit of collaboration must help. So too does their inate willingness to do their best for the choreographers and teachers.

But back to the tutu - interesting too to read that that Largerfeld isn't too keen on swans himself ! I know a few people who fear them and find them quite unlike the fairytale image so often portrayed.

  3. didn't like the dress at all, really unflattering for a dancer. your interviews here show that they really like costumes which let them move. this was unflattering in every way.
